What is a Climate Camp? – Klimacamp

What is a Climate Camp?

The climate camp is a communal place for networking and education for various political and social groups that are committed to ecological sustainability and social justice. It is also a place where alternatives to the current capitalist and democratically hollowed-out society can be tried out and where our protest can be emphasized through direct action and civil disobedience. The goal of the climate justice movement is a good life for all within planetary boundaries. To achieve this, we strive for radical systemic change.

The climate camp is built on 4 main pillars:

  • Education
  • Networking
  • Alternative living
  • Direct action

And this is what it could look like:

A large meadow with lots of tents, communal cooking, workshops, music, a good atmosphere and lively discussions. A space for inspiration and political action!

The climate camp takes place at different locations in and around Vienna. Our aim is to come into contact with the struggles already taking place there, to understand and support them. Our wish is to make people aware of the existing initiatives and groups through a camp week including content-related discussions.
