Klimacamp 2024
This year’s climate camp will take place from May 26 to June 1, 2024 in Lichtenwörth near Wiener Neustadt. For one week, a space for education, networking and exchange between different groups of the climate justice movement and interested people will be created there. There will be workshops, presentations, games and skill shares related to climate justice.
Together with the local resistance, we are fighting against the planned eastern bypass in Lichtenwörth. That is why this year’s theme is:
Breaking Grounds: the construction industry in the climate crisis
Together, we will spend a week taking a critical look at the impact of construction and road projects on people, nature and the climate. What does soil sealing have to do with neo-colonial exploitation and global supply chains? How does the construction industry promote post-colonial dependencies? How does the climate crisis affect employees in the construction industry? And what are the alternatives in times of climate crisis? How can we build ecologically and unseal soils?
In addition to the main topic, other aspects of the climate crisis will also be discussed. We look forward to exchanging ideas on these and other topics:
- Food system alternatives
- Ecological agriculture, food souvereignty
- De-/postcolonial and anti-racist perspectives
- International solidarity, indigenous sovereignty, anti-oppression movements, BIPoC2 solidarity
- Post-fossil energy systems
- Regenerative energy sources, low-tec energy production, energy justice
- Alternative Economies
- Degrowth, commons, cooperatives, just transformation
- Mobility transformation
- Car-free cities, public transit, urban-rural transportation
- Biodiversity
- Nature and species protection, soil ecology
- Structural Oppressions and counter-strategies
- Racism, queer-feminism, ableism, classism
- Policy-Making and Law

Save the date, pack a tent and see you in Lichtenwörth!
Barriers
The camp is located on a meadow and is therefore not barrier-free. We will try to make the meadow paths to the camp as flat as possible. A more detailed description of the site will follow.
Childcare
Childcare will be available by prior arrangement.
Language
The workshops at the camp will be held in German and English. We can provide whispered translation for you by prior arrangement.
