Medea’s daughters

From:
Director: Corinne Eckenstein
Assistance: Katharina Fischer
Production: Anna Sunday
text: Tunay Önder, Elif Bilici, Cecilia Kukua, Lily Lin, Ines Miro, Ivana Nikolic
System relevant performers*: Elif Bilici, Cecilia Kukua, Lily Lin, Ines Miro, Ivana Nikolic
When: 18:30 – 19:30

5 system relevant performances
MEDEAS DAUGHTERS*, these are young women* whose visibility and influence on society are pushed into the background because of their origin, skin color, sexual orientation or political views. Their voices, faces, bodies and thoughts should not be heard or seen. Politics is made on their backs, but they are not part of it.
It is about a future in which these young women* will guide and lead the city. A vision that will become reality.
Since September 2019 we have been working on the Greek myth of Medea and writing our own Medea stories together with the author Tunay Önder. Through Corona, the work process has developed a different dynamic and figures have emerged that have suddenly gained importance for society as systemically relevant professions. As nurse, cashier, hairdresser, cleaner and actress they free themselves from their ascribed function and appear for the first time as Medea’s daughters* uncompromisingly and loudly. They dance, roar, perform, speak. NO MORE NICENESS!

**** Against Autonation & Climate Catastrophe-Antifascist History ****

From: Alfred Straba
Where: Ottakring Art Filling Station (Grundsteingasse 45-47, corner Kirchstetterngasse, 1160 Vienna)
When: 20:00

On Thursday we will have Alfred Straba as our guest for a lecture followed by a discussion. In keeping with our summer school on mobility (registration for the summer school here: https://survey.klimacamp.at/index.php/911594?lang=de), we want to take a look at the history of automobility!

Against autonation and climate catastrophe – an anti-fascist history of automobility from the Nazi era to Fridays for cubic capacity
Resistance to the traffic turnaround is not only emotionalized to the grotesque, but is increasingly becoming a core theme of the New Right. However, the connection between automobility and the extreme right is not a new development, but goes back to the time of National Socialism. For this reason, the lecture offers an overview of the historical development of automobility, which, starting from the Nazi era, demonstrates continuities of folk and nationalist tendencies that can be traced both in the Fordist post-war period and in post-Fordist neoliberalism from the 1970s onwards. The focus is particularly on the situation in Germany, but reference is made to entanglements, similarities and differences in relation to the situation in Austria.
The lecture concludes with reflections on the current “Kulturkampf” about the car. It is hoped to initiate a debate in which the growing movement for a change in traffic is reflected critically on ideology, while at the same time anti-fascists are encouraged to join the fight against automobility and its fetishisation.
